IPL 3 : Will It have an impact due to unavailability of Pakistani Players

When I tuned on my television set on the evening of 19th Jan 2010, The breaking news aws that not a single Pakistani players were bought by any of the IPL franchise for season 3 starting 12thApril 2010. It was almost evident that this is going to happen, looking the way things were folding up in the recent time. It was just a confirmation of it in the open public after the bidding process.
It is interesting to know that for last three months, the availability of Pakistani players for IPL 3 in India were in question due to a sordid relation between the two governments. It seem that there was a consensus among the franchisees that they would not take a risk of having Pakistani players whose availability was not sure. Also, with the limited purse and slot for players with each franchise owner, they too have a valid reason to go away without any of the Pakistani players. If the owners are spending as much $750,000 they well definitely make sure that their money is getting best utilized. And the last thing they will want would be unavailability of any player due to any xyz reasons.
It is also being questioned by some of the experts that If there was a consensus among the team owners regarding this, you not they were kept out of the bidding process. I think it’s a logical argument but as a league IPL too has some constraints to follow. I think Indian government and IPL authorities have done the best way possible to workout the situation. As the tension was mounting on the border, the whole episode is a message to Pakistani government that peaceful political lead to the sport activity between the countries not the vice versa. Lalit Modi is absolutely correct when he says that its up to the owner to decide which players they want to have or not, and after bidding it’s a fact that non of the Pakistani players got selected. At the end of the day, it’s a sad episode and Pakistani players and people must be disappointing. Lets hope that the excitement level and entho of the game is maintained even after the world champions are not in any of the side.
